We have this project and we are studying about microsoft office program, and my teacher told to us to get a copy of that screen so that we can identify the parts of it.. Please help..

HI, You need to go to www.download.com and then you should search for a program that captures the screen, you can type Screen capturer and then download it. That program captures and saves whatever screen you want, it doesent matter if its office or whatever.

Next, you can open that screen image with a suitable photo/picture editor (even Paint will work) and cut out parts that maybe you don't need.


I mean, you do this after you open Microsoft Office, of course.

in you print setup screen make sure you select the print to fit 1 page wide by 1 page high so that all your comments come out





If you have multiple pages just select 1 page wide and what ever page tall so that everything fits on each sheet.

After reading all the answers, I deduce that you hit the "Insert" key.
Reply:Lol dude Insert is on!! press insert to turn it off!
Reply:It looks as if you may be in Overwrite mode, rather than Insert Mode.





First thing to try is press the 'Insert' key once - Insert is in the group of 6 keys above the arrow keys.





If that does not work, enter 'Insert mode' in the search box.

You need to enable the Japanese keyboard.





On a Windows computer, first go to Control Panels, then Regional and Language Options.


Click the Languages tab, and click the details button.


Then, press the Add button and add Japanese to your list of keyboards.


After that, hit Language Bar and enable the Language Bar.





After that, you can change between the English keyboard and the Japanese keyboard. But, to type in Japanese, you have to enable the Japanese keyboard, and then click the _A button and change it to ひらがな(hiragana). To switch back, you have to switch it back to 直接入力(chokusetsu nyuuryoku, direct input).

Reply:Only the Powerpoint viewer is free but you can't edit or make slideshows with it.


As suggested, try OpenOffice.org, it's compatible with Word, Powerpoint, Excel etc. and it's free.


I also find it a good bit faster to load and use than MS Office.

What you want is "mail merge". For this you need your addresses in either a Word table or an Excel spreadsheet (I would think you will need a separate field/box for each piece of address info). You can then "print envelopes" .Look in HELP to find out how to "mail merge" and print envelopes and the layout required in your name database.

Reply:OK... Here's the thing realy.. If it's in a gray box, and shows no links to any other pages to fix it then you know it's a real Internet Explorer problem. Just seriously man get rid of Internet Explorer. I hate it.


What you should do is get FireFox. There's built in security, and pop up blocker, and it goes much faster. You probably already know this, but also another good browser is Opera. Get Opera, and FireFox then delete Ineternet Explorer. (in case you're like a few "blonde" people i've met it might be smart to get FirfeFox, or Opera BEFORE YOU DELETE INTERNET EXPLORER SO YOU CAN DOWNLOAD IT.. Just an idea). Anyways this is a pretty common error, but here's a few things to think about to tell if it may be a virus-


Am I coenencted to cable, DNS, T1, or any other brodband internet service? (High speed internet is known as an "always on" connection. When virus makers scan to give people viruses you're most likely to be on the list then if you were on a closed dial-up connection. Plus virus makers don't realy target dial-up to slow down sites)


What was I doing when this started happening? Most likely the startup before it started happening? (pretty much explains itself)


Do I get a lot of junk mail, and have ever opened anything I didn't know what was? (I do it all the time... BUT i have about 30 different scanners and a realy good firewall)


Do you have a firewall? (I recomend ZoneAlarm. It blocks every access attempt unless you tell it to allow a certian program to access the internet. It saved my computer!!!)

(I love downloading, but if this is your problem then get dial up cuz it takes 2 years to download then you just forget aobut it, and then walla... you notice.. hey.. my virus scanner didn't pick up anything this time, and your computer starts acting a lot better. Best thing to try first is go to Microsoft.com and make sure you have the latest updates for Internet Explorer. How do I organize data on Microsoft Excel using time for the cell format?

I'm using Microsoft Excel to organize data for my class involving Mile Times. The class of about 30 ran the mile in september and we recorded the time. They ran the mile again in December and we made a column to see the difference in time. The problem is that I'm trying to make the cells comply with a "time" format (h:mm:ss) but the numbers turn out all funny. We measured the time in minutes and seconds and would perfer to use a colon instead of a decimal since the seconds are supposed to be out of 60 and not 100. When i try to figure the difference in times my formulas/cell refernces are all funny and i get the ######### across the cell





What I would like the result to be is the september time in one column (in minutes and seconds) column two with the december time (in minutes and seconds) and the third column to be the difference in time (minutes and seconds). What format should I use and how would i go about making the formulas?

You are making one simple mistake - never try to use the time format for singular time figures. It is a common mistake.





Simply highlight all of the cells concerned


Right hand click within the selection and chose format cells


Chose custom


In the type bar (will be filled with the word general) type in 00.00


Click ok





Sadly you can not use a comma.





Now when you come to add the formula the to sums will add correctly - (don't forget to format the cell as above with 00.00)


Sorry or subtract, it is all the same basically you want CellX - Cell X

The formula will have subtracted the December time from the September time. You may have to reformat the cells in column C to "text". You can drag the formula into the rest of the cells.

The easiest way is to disable User Account Control (UAC), which is nothing short of irritating. This does no harm to Vista and it works considerably faster without it. Heres how its done:





Click Start and click Control Panel.

Click User Accounts


Click Turn User Account Control on or off.


Click the box beside the Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer option to remove the check mark.


Click OK.





You will then need to restart your computer.





I have been running Vista from the day it was released and this is one of the first things I did after installing it.

OTOH, while on-access scanners often cause slow-downs when scanning large files, there is absolutely no reason why a good scanner should slow down when scanning Microsoft Word documents. It is possible to determine very quickly if they are infected or not - without the need to scan the whole file. If this is an option for you, consider switching to a better anti-virus product. In any case, this is a better solution than disabling the scanning for particular files or directories, since the latter lowers the security of your machine - just because these files are clean now does not mean that they might not become infected in the future.
Reply:Ooo, I hate that virus check, hate it! Makes it SO to bring up an internal file. But two different full-time professional software engineers have told me that you can't turn off virus check without putting yourself in danger, that's all there is to it. At least if you're connected to the internet. But if you're offline, with the modem turned off or disconnected, no problem, turn it off and you can go a lot faster. Hope this helps. (I can't tell you just how to turn your virus scan off though because it depends...)

My logo was made in Adobe Illustrator and I had it sent in pdf, jpeg, and gif to my email. None of these come out crisp and clear on my letterhead. if it is, then insert the picture by going to insert%26gt;picture%26gt;from file. Locate where the file is. It should be of a good quality.





If the picture looks clear in a picture editor, then it should come out clear. Its better to do it this way, better than copying and pasting.

1. Click the Tools-%26gt;Autocorrect Options menu item.

3. Under Replace, deselect Internet and Network paths with hyperlinks.


4. Click OK.

My PC is secondhand and I'm currently doing an online course which requires me to use the Microsoft Outlook but when i open it, it has the previous owners names registered on there, making it impossible to use in "my" course work. First, the registered name is what you or your dealer entered when the computer was first set up. It appears all over, but primarily in the System Properties dialog box:


Press Win+Break to see this dialog box, or right-click the My Computer icon and choose Properties. In the General tab you'll find your name and possibly an "organization" name as well.


Second, here's how to change that information:


1. Choose the Run command from the Start menu. Or press Win+R.


2. Type REGEDIT into the box.


3. Click OK to run the Registry Editor.


4. Open the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE entry.


5. Open Software.


6. Open Microsoft.


7a. For Windows 98/ME, open Windows.


7b. For Windows XP/NT, open Windows NT.


8. Click to select the Current Version entry.


In the list on the right side of the screen you'll find the


Registered Organization and Registered Owner items. They may be blank.

Reply:I presume you are using Outlook Express, in case you don't it should be similar to this.





When you open the program go to Tools. In Outlook Express on tools bar there is Accounts... go there and you should have the listing of all the accounts. What you want to do is open a new one (if you want you can remove the old ones). With new account in Outlook you will have your name appear when you send e-mails.





But to do this you have to know server used by your ISP. These are usually provided in the booklet you get when you open a new account. If you didn't get it try going on ISPs website to find the proper settings. If there aren't any on the website then contact them by phone :P





ISPs usually use pop3 and smtp servers for emailing, but you still have to know the addresses of those servers.

Your computer almost certainly came with a couple CD's - one of them should be the software that came pre-installed, usually including Works. Try that, and if not, you can probably get a CD or download from the computer manufacturer, if you have registered the computer with them.
Reply:You can try to retrieve them from the recycle bin.If they are still in the recycle bin, go in the bin and select them and then click restore.





If they are not in the recycle bin, you will have to reinstall thenm with a disk. If you do not have the disk, you will have to purchase the disks.

At least that would save all your settings.

You didn't mention the version of Word you are using but for Microsoft Word 2003 it involves two steps:





Step 1: Find the "Microsoft Office Tools" folder in your Programs list. If you made the installation by default it should be located in:





Start -%26gt; All Programs -%26gt; Microsoft Office -%26gt; Microsoft Office Tools





And from there open "Microsoft Office 2003 Language Settings" and from that window add "Spanish" to the list of languages. If you have Office applications open at this time, you will have close them to apply the changes.





Step 2: Now when using Word you must have notice the language you are using in the task bar of Word (the one at the bottom). To switch to Spanish, you need to:





Tools --%26gt; Language --%26gt; Set Language





And from there select the appropiate Spanish version you need.





As an additional note, if you are using two languages already in Windows (you can check this in the Windows Language Bar) any time you switch languages, Word will automatically follow so that you don't have to set the language every time.
