What is a program similar to microsoft word but is free?
whats wrong with Wordpad? it would have been installed when you installed windows?, it can do the job just as well as ms word.
Reply:OpenOffice - it's free - has all the basic features that Microsoft Office has, but without the extra bells and whistles that most people don't use anyways. Check out: http://download.openoffice.org/index.htm...
Reply:There is a free software program not as good as microsoft word but it gets the job done. It is called open office. You should be able to find it just by going to google and typing it in.

Reply:Microsoft Wordpad is already part of XP. START\ALL PROGRAMS\ACCESSORIES.

If it isn't list there, open Windows Explorer. go to

"C:\Program Files\Windows NT\Accessories\wordpad.exe"
Reply:If you're primarily looking for a word processing application have a look at http://www.jarte.com/.

"Like WordPad, Jarte is fast starting, easy to use, reliable, requires little screen space, and creates documents perfectly compatible with Word. But Jarte reveals the WordPad engine's true hidden power by adding many features Microsoft never made available in the WordPad program. Jarte can even be run directly from a USB flash drive." ... courtesy Tucows Review.
