What is the newest version of microsoft power point that's free to use?

I've heard that some of the older ones are free to use is this true? If so, which version is the newest?

If not, is there anything else that can make similar slide show files that can be opened with microsoft power point?

What is the newest version of microsoft power point that's free to use?
None of these are free, other than in a trial version. However, check out OpenOffice, there is an application that's part of that package that's a free OpenSource presentation application, I know a number of people have recommended it. www.openoffice.org
Reply:No it is not true

the viewer's are free but you can edit them

unless you download the files illegally you will have to pay for

openoffice.org

has a great thing that is very similar to powerpoint

and best of al it is free

lucky for me i have office 2007 on windows and 2008 on mac but i have "heard" that openoffice is great
Reply:Only the Powerpoint viewer is free but you can't edit or make slideshows with it.

As suggested, try OpenOffice.org, it's compatible with Word, Powerpoint, Excel etc. and it's free.

I also find it a good bit faster to load and use than MS Office.
