How could one tell whether a website is designed using Microsoft Frontpage?

How could you tell if a website is designed by using Frontpage and not by inserting HTML codes into a notepad and saving it as an HTML document?

And is it true that there are mistakes in Microsoft Frontpage's codes and that not all internet browsers can open Frontpage sites correctly?

How could one tell whether a website is designed using Microsoft Frontpage?
Hi, to tell is a website is using Microsoft Frontpage Extentions is to browse the folders using ftp, or other means. If you see folders like vti_bin, you have extensions installed.

Any web browser can see fromtpage as you see it. The web components you use are Server-Side (they run on the server, not the client, like java script). So what you see in preview, is what users see when they visit your site.

Hope this helps.
Reply:Often, you can view the source of the page (View %26gt; Source). Look for the following line:

%26lt;meta name="generator" content="Microsoft FrontPage X.X%26gt;

Of course, this line can easily be removed, so if it's not there, it doesn't necessarily mean that the page was NOT made with FrontPage.

It's true that FrontPage sometimes writes "bad" code that does not necessarily conform to web standards (or that's just plain not formatted correctly). The reason why it may not display correctly in some browsers is because it does not conform to the standards, or it is "sloppy".
