How do I open a newer Microsoft word file in an older version of Microsoft Word?

Is there some kind of converter because whenever I try to open the file from the newer microsoft word version on the older version it doesn't work and just comes out as this weird coded stuff.

Reply:When you save, click "save as" and save it as an older version of Microsoft Word! You can open an older version with a newer version, but you cannot open a newer version with the older version.
