I'd really like to be able to highlight a cell in Excel, click format cells, and number, and then select engineering notation. Right now, the best I can do is scientific notation. I have Microsoft Excel 97; is there anything I can download to install this extra formatting? Do later versions of Microsoft Excel have engineering notation?
Is it possible to get engineering notation in Microsoft Excel 97 or in later versions?
Engineering notation is scientific notation in which the power of ten must be a multiple of three (i.e, they are powers of a thousand, but written as e.g. 106 instead of 1,0002). As an alternative to writing powers of 10, SI prefixes can be used, which also (usually) provide steps of a factor of a thousand.

Reply:This didn't answer my question at all, and pretty much just repeated information back to me that I already knew...but at least I got an answer, I suppose. ? Report It
