Why does my microsoft automatic updates shut off every time I reboot?

I am running windows XP and have my security setting for microsoft set to automatically update. Whenever I shut down or reboot my pc the automatic updates turns off. I have to go back in and reset it to automatic. I have checked and made sure I have all the latest microsoft updates and have even shut off the automatic updates and restarted the computer and then reset it to automatic. Any idea why they won't stay set to automatic?

You may have some malware running on your computer. Try going to http://pack.google.com and download Norton Security Scan and Spyware Doctor. Run both of the tools and see if there is anything running onyour computer that should not be there.
Reply:One possibility is something nasty on your machine which does not want you to get a patch or update which could either thwart or interrupt its activities.

Make sure your AV %26amp; Anti-spyware is up to date.
