How to escape characters in Microsoft Excel, such as an equals sign?

Hi, how can I escape characters in Microsoft Excel? I want to have a column of equal signs, but Excel interprets the equals signs as the beginning of a formula. How would I do this? Thanks!

Start the cell with a ' character.
Reply:Format the whole colum as Text before entering the = signs.


Highlight the column,


right click your mouse


go to format cells, click


go down to text


ok





that should do it.
Reply:input a single quote infront before you type the equal sign like this '=
