How do I open a file on word if it is from Microsoft works? It shows up in a different language?

I e-mailed my work from my friends labtop (they were on Microsoft Works) and when I try to download attachment it doesn't open correctly. It comes out in a different language...please help me because I want to print them out.

Its not a different language. Works cant read the document








There is also OpenOffice. Its a free Office Suite in the opensource community. It is a very mature product.
