How do you get a downloaded font to work on Microsoft Word?

I've downloaded a few fonts onto My Documents, but when I go to use them on Microsoft Word, they don't work, please help. How do I get to use them on Microsoft Word or any program for that matter?





Please note: No high tech language, please. I'm trying to understand not get confused more than I already am.

How do you get a downloaded font to work on Microsoft Word?
True Type Fonts that are downloaded can be ADDED to the FONT section of your Control Panel. You see, Microsoft Word picks fonts that are properly installed on your computer. The FONT becomes a part of the whole system, and not just Microsoft Word.





If the font is in a Zip file, you may have to UNZIP that first. True type fonts are already known by your system, so it should have the font icon that is associated with that file.





Open your Control Panel (see Settings under the Start menu)


Open up the FONT section


Go to the FILE menu and pick INSTALL FONT


Then browse to where you downloaded this font.





If you share a Word Document with a professional printer, and you are using an unusual font; be sure to provide that FONT along with your document, so it can be printed exactly as you intended. Your professional may not have that exact font in his/her collection.

Go to Settings


Control Panel


Double Click on the Fonts icon


Once it opens, click on File


Click on Install New Font


Select the folder where you put the downloaded font.


Make sure Copy Font to Font folder is checked


Once you have the fonts selected and showing in the window, click OK





Open Word and you should be able to use the font.


If not, reboot then try.
Reply:Well, your previous answers hit it on the ball. Just don't go crazy with adding new fonts.





More fonts = longer computer load time.





It'll make your computer take a LOT longer to load up your computer if you have like, 500+ fonts to load.
Reply:Copy the downloaded fonts from my documents to C/WINDOWS/fonts





and then open any program..it will work
Reply:When you download a font it is usually zipped, so the first thing that you need to do in unzip (uncompress) it. Then just copy and past the font into the Windows font folder. To do this, copy the font and then go to My Computer%26gt;"C"%26gt;Windows, find the font folder and open it and the paste the font into it. That font should now show up in any program that uses fonts.
