How do you add page numbers starting with page 3 in microsoft word 2007?

My paper includes a title page, a table of contents, and then the actual paper. I want the first two pages to have no numbers, but the rest of the pages should be numbered. Is there any way to do this in Microsoft Word 2007. If so, how?

How do you add page numbers starting with page 3 in microsoft word 2007?
First of all you have to insert a section brake after your table of content and before the actual paper.

Go to the third page, (where you have the new section). Insert page numbers, and check to start to count from 1 in this new section.

Then go to the Header and Footer (select the footer in the new section). Make sure that this footer will not be identical with the footer in the previous section (you will have to uncheck a checkbox).

Go to the footer in the previous section, and delete the page number.

This is what you have to do. Unfortunately, the interface in 2007 is different from 2003, and I don't know how to do it in 2007. But the principle is the same, all you have to do is to find how to insert a section brake, page numbers, and how to open the Header and Footer dialog window (The help menu should be helpfull).
Reply:Put a section break between the pages you want with and the pages without page numbering.

Then in the first section, go to the footer , and remove page numbering

If you wish the 3rd page to start numbering as page 1, you can then use Format Page Number in the Header/Footer toolbar to do so.
Reply:im assuming you already know how to insert the page numbers

now to do what you said, i still haven't found a way to do it like you said, i.e. have the first two pages without page numbers but the rest of the pages are numbered

the only solution is to create two documents

after finishing up everything cut and paste the first two pages (or the pages at the beginning where you dont want the title page) into a another document

in the first document where you want page numbers, double-click on the footer (or edit the footer)

the toolbar should automatically change to the "Header %26amp; Footer Tools"

then look at the top left of the tool bar; you should see the 3 buttons - Header, Footer and PageNumber

click on PageNumber; then click on FormatPageNumbers from the menu

there should be an option to "Start At: ___" under the PageNumbering section

type the page number you want to start with in the box and click OK

and thats it
