Can game companies like microsoft lower their game console prices down?

If companies like Sony and Microsoft lower their consoles down to about $150 they could sell more than they bargained for and make lots of money especially with the problems the 360 had like the ring of fire.

I had heard a rumor that Nintendo wanted to sell the Wii for $199, but was talked out of it by the stores, as it would seem "too cheap"





But I can't tell if this story is true!
Reply:Heres some information for you, they were selling the consoles for a loss since release, all consoles do with the exception of the wii.





Its because they more then make up for that loss in sales of games and accessories as well as that the production costs reduce when they shift enough stock which is when they start to profit from the console.





Theres a certain line they cant cross when they are already losing money, if they see fit to reduce the price in future which they will eventually then it will happen.
Reply:yeah i know what you mean, but for right now, the prices are a bit high, xbox did lower the price a little. PS3 lower the price too, but its still pretty expensive. I think they are not lowering down the prices because christmas season is coming and people would buy anything no matter what price is it. I know one thing, if the PS3 doesnt lower their price like about $200, i know i will get one and alot of people would too. But that will be like around 3 years when the price will go down, but that is where they will make a PS4 or something.
