How can I obtain Microsoft Excel for my computer?

I'm using a laptop computer which has the Microsoft Office package, but when I try to open Excel, I'm prompted to type in a 25 character code, which I don't have. I'm guessing I need to purchase this code or the entire package. What the most cost effective way to do this?

How can I obtain Microsoft Excel for my computer?
This is the code that you need to activate your software.

You can get a trial code free of charge for 3 months. I think there is a link in that box asking for a code that you can request a trial code. Just go there and get a code I think you have to have a hotmail account also which you can create in 2 minutes.
Reply:OK I don't think your stupid enough to think that anybody reading this is going to put that here.

So let's make a jump and figure maybe you would like to be open MS files or use an Excel spreadsheet.

You can dl openoffice and use it for free which would solve any legitimate reason for asking this question.

Reply:If you have purchased the computer within the last couple of months, you might have the code in your recovery disk package. Check on the packaging of your recovery disk. Mine was on a card with the code, on the back side of the card on a yellow sticker. If not, then you could download the free OpenOffice program and use it at www.openoffice.org . It works for Microsoft Office formats and other formats. It even exports into a .pdf file format. Great program.
Reply:Forget that stupid Microsoft rip-off.

Get Open Office, a FREEWARE program that does everything Excel does, and can open/edit Excel files for you.

I highly recommend it.
Reply:Good guess.
